SUGGESTIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS ON USE AND MAINTENANCE

for office chairs and armchairs, waiting sofas, modular poufs, stools and chairs for conference, convention and seminar rooms and tables

Use and care of Leyform armchairs, pouffes and sofas

GENERAL RULES

In order to keep Leyform conference, convention and seminar chairs, sofas and poufs for the lobby and entrance area as well as waiting room benches in good condition for a long time, it is best to avoid moving or pushing them on the floor; if it is necessary to move them, it is best to lift them off the floor with the help of two or more persons. It is important that:

  • Sofas and poufs for waiting rooms should not be placed near direct heat sources
  • Swivel chairs, lobby and entrance hall chairs should be used correctly, avoiding sitting on their backs or armrests
  • Whenever community, office, lobby and hall chairs are used, care must be taken to distribute the weight evenly over each seat to preserve the integrity of cushions and upholstery over time.

For cleaning, it is recommended to avoid too frequent or aggressive cleaning in order not to risk scratches or fibre detachment. It is suggested to remove dust from poufs and armchairs at least once a week with a hoover, taking care not to press or rub the vacuum brush on the surface of the upholstery. In the case of stains that may appear on the surface of the upholstery of chairs, pouf, sofas and armchairs, it is important to act promptly with a soft cloth soaked in water or neutral detergent; before treating the visible surface where the splash or dirt is present, test the product on a small hidden portion to verify that it does not cause alterations or permanent damage. In particular, beware of buttons, buckles or metal parts on garments and bags that come into contact with the seat, as continuous rubbing can progressively damage the fibres of leather, eco-leather, fabric or wool.

FABRICS, ECO-LEATHER, IMITATION LEATHER AND VINYL

To keep chairs, armchairs, poufs and modular sofas for the waiting room, lobby and entrance area in good condition, dust regularly with a microfibre cloth. If stains form, use a soft cloth slightly dampened with lukewarm water or mild soap and water. Do not use aggressive products, alcohol or solvents to clean surfaces. If in doubt, try the cleaning product on a hidden part first and wait 24 hours to make sure it will not cause damage.

SUPPORTING MESH FOR CHAIRS AND ARMCHAIRS

Breathable mesh used in Leyform task and executive armchairs is made according to the company's technical specifications, using polyester yarns; the material is soft, comfortable and designed to offer breathability and drainage. Thanks to its structure, it resists humidity and temperature changes well, slowing down the natural ageing of the yarn without using substances that are harmful to the environment or health. To keep it in top condition over time, it is important to clean it regularly; dust and dirt can damage the fibres over time. It is recommended to vacuum the net regularly once a week, using a low power hoover. Light (non-greasy) stains can be removed by gently blotting with a clean, lint-free cloth, or with a sponge soaked in warm water and well wrung out. If necessary, a little neutral soap can be added. Finally, rinse with lukewarm water and allow to dry completely. For oily stains, dry stain removers can be used, carefully following the manufacturer's instructions. Do not use steam or electric dryers; avoid the use of abrasive products or chemical solvents. If in doubt, always try the product on a hidden area first and wait at least 24 hours to make sure it will not cause damage.

FULL GRAIN NAPPA LEATHER, REGULAR LEATHER

Avoid exposing the upholstery of sofas, modular poufs and chairs intended for conventions, conferences or seminars to direct sunlight, as this may cause alterations in the colour of the leather; similarly, it is recommended to keep these furnishings away from heat sources. For daily maintenance, dust leather surfaces regularly with a soft, dry cloth; if stains form, it is important to act quickly with absorbent paper or a dry cloth to prevent them from being absorbed, as the porosity of the leather favours deep penetration. For more thorough cleaning, a cloth slightly dampened with water and a small amount of well-diluted neutral soap can be used. Avoid rubbing: it is preferable to dab gently, working from the edges towards the centre of the stain, and dry immediately after treatment. If you are unsure of the effectiveness or compatibility of the cleaning product, try it first on a hidden area and wait at least 24 hours to ensure that it does not cause any alteration or damage.

SOLID WOOD AND PLYWOOD

When cleaning wooden seats and backs of chairs used in conference, seminar and convention halls, dust and common household stains can be removed using a well-diluted mixture of water and neutral soap. It is essential to avoid the use of commercial stain removers containing alcohol, as they can damage the surface. To preserve solid wood parts, such as the legs of chairs, armchairs and stools, it is recommended to wipe with a soft cloth, making gentle circular movements, and always dry with a dry cloth. It is important not to use abrasive products or solvents. If you are uncertain about the detergent you have chosen, you should first try it on a hidden, inconspicuous area and wait at least 1 day to check its compatibility and make sure it will not cause damage.

PLASTIC PARTS

In order to keep the surfaces of plastic chairs used in training, conference and seminar rooms clean, it is recommended to regularly remove dust with a microfibre cloth. Most common stains can be treated with a soft cloth or sponge, slightly moistened with lukewarm water or with a diluted solution of water and neutral detergent. It is important not to use industrial stain removers or aggressive alcohol-based products, as they may damage the surface. To avoid scratches, use only soft cloths and clean with gentle, circular movements. Always avoid the use of solvents or abrasive substances. If there is any doubt about the effectiveness of the product used, carry out a preliminary test on a hidden area and wait at least 1 day and 1 night to check for any alterations or damage.

POLISHED OR PAINTED METAL SURFACES

For cleaning the frames of chairs used in training and conference rooms, as well as the frames of sofas and poufs used in waiting rooms, halls and entrances, specific detergents can be used, such as household detergents diluted in lukewarm water. It is essential that such products are non-abrasive and do not contain acids, alcohol or bleach. It is important to avoid using abrasive sponges or synthetic fibre or metal scourers, which could permanently scratch metal surfaces. After cleaning, rinse thoroughly to remove any detergent residue, which could otherwise damage the finish, causing dulling or oxidation. Once washed, surfaces should be dried with a soft suede-type cloth. Commercial polishing detergents (polish) for chrome or paint should not be used: these should only be used by qualified personnel and with extreme caution, as their abrasive component can cause irreversible damage. If there is any doubt about the effectiveness or compatibility of the cleaning agent, it is advisable to test it first on an inconspicuous part, waiting at least 24 hours to see if any changes appear.

CABINETS AND TABLETOPS

It is important to promptly remove any substances that may accidentally end up on the surfaces of tables, furniture, chairs and sofas or pouf in waiting areas, lobbies or entrances, as well as on the writing tablets of chairs used in conference, convention or seminar rooms. For cleaning, we recommend the use of a soft cloth, preferably microfibre, slightly moistened with lukewarm water and a diluted neutral detergent. After cleaning, always dry thoroughly. It is essential to avoid the use of aggressive products containing bleach or abrasive substances. The use of rough sponges, metal or synthetic fibre scourers is also not recommended, as they can damage surfaces. It is recommended not to exert too much pressure when cleaning to avoid scratches. If you are uncertain about the product to be used, it is good practice to test it first on a hidden part of the material, waiting at least 24 hours to ensure that it does not cause any alterations or damage.
